10 days to go - I will be busier until the 16th, then have a day to recover from the loading, before I fly out the 18th. if anyone in the Harrisburg area still hasn't hung out - this week is your chance!

books are halfway done, cds and dvds done, clothes mostly done, just have the rest of the books to do, which only requires (hopefully!) a bit more cleaning. once the books are done, will just have miscellaneous crap, my computer, and both lamps to pack. the last three items all have to wait til last minute, though >

Music Meme: List 7 songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words or even if they're not any good but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they're listening to in absolute random order.

I've been really into covers lately, so there's a few in here:

1. Quietdrive - Time After Time. this is a cover of one of my favorite Cyndi Lauper songs.. it's similar to the original without being too much so; you can tell the band has put their own spin on it, and I like that.

2. Sarah Connor - Sexual Healing. I make no apologies or explanations for this one - I just like it.

3. Rage Against the Machine - Wake Up. not a cover, but probably my favorite Rage song. I've listened to all three albums, and this is the one that sticks the most.

4. Depeche Mode - John the Revelator. this ranks a close second for my favorite DM song - there's a great video on YouTube featuring Dubya and his antics that I really connect with.

5. Tomek Makowiecki - Can't Get You Out Of My Head. metal/industrial cover of the Kylie Minogue song. so much win.

6. New Found Glory - Don't You (Forget About Me). cover of the Simple Minds' song from the Breakfast Club.. NFG has two movie theme song albums out, and they're pretty good. I think is the best of the lot, personally.

7. the Unlovables - Feelin' All Emo (Since I Broke Up With You). catchy song from the Unlovables' first album. never fails to make me laugh, especially when I'm not in the best of moods.

tag, you're it! [info]cforce, [info]danalog, [info]dizzyb4, [info]daisydumont, [info]v_wolfpaw, [info]vampiress2002, and [info]kaladori

Poll #1026900 Which show should I try for in September?
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: Friends, participants: 9

Which show would you pick? prz to be explainin' in comments :)

Hinder, Papa Roach and Buckcherry
0 (0.0%)

Live, Seether, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, and Collective Soul
5 (55.6%)

Combichrist, [:SITD:], Modulate, and Tempting Fate
4 (44.4%)

I could probably do the CC show + one of the others, assuming I could get Ash to go with me to Philly. of the other two shows, the easier one would be Live et al; it's much closer to home and it's on a Saturday. the Hinder show is in York on a Wednesday - I'd probably have to fight to get the night off, and then I'd get to deal with rush hour traffic on the way to the show; the bands, though, are worth it, I think. Concert traffic would likely be hell either way.

this weekend was [info]danalog and [info]dizzyb4's wedding. it was a crazy, busy, fun, exhausting weekend, and I'm glad to have been best man for Jeff.. almost as glad as I am that it's over! see Jeff's journal for some of the happenings.

I'm bartending now at work, in the late afternoon/early evenings. we'll see how that works out.

I've got lots of thoughts about moving, and dealing with my family, etc.. lots of things going on in my head right now. I would say that I'd post more details later, but we all know how likely that is, right? :P

wow, it's been almost three months since my last real update. it seems like every time I've wanted to do an entry, something has gotten in the way.

I've been very busy these last few months; Ren Faire kept me hopping pretty good, and I saw a show or two, and then in late October, I got a new job. I'm now working lunch at O'Reilly's Pub. it's pretty swank - nice coworkers, good bennies in a few months, as many hours as I want.. and oh yeah, the free food. all kind of healthy stuff, like fresh-sliced deli meats, fresh made soups and ham/turkey for lunch this past week or so. the environment's a lot better, and in a bit, I'll be able to learn bartending as well; right now I'm just waiting tables.

I had the chance to see Poe Evermore right after the end of Faire.. went with a very good friend of mine and we had a great time, at the show and then after at dinner.

also went to see Razed in Black last week with Ash. they put on a great show, I have to say! I didn't think much of the opening band. they were interesting, don't get me wrong, but really didn't do much for me. it was good to see Tony and ras_dna, though :)

on tap for the near future: I'm working the buffet tomorrow at the hotel.. and Jeff+Sarah's wedding is coming up in less than two months now. lots of things going on these next two months!

It's International Talk Like a Pirate Day, bitches!
ride the pig!
so I went up to New York Labor Day weekend with my friend Jackie. we went to visit the artist friend that we went to NJ with in February. as it happens, she's working the New York Ren Faire, so we got to spend a day and a half wandering around. we spent lots of time at Angel Sword, fondling sharp, shiny, pointy things and wishing we could afford them. I managed to resist even the temptation of *drum roll* payment plans. $1300 swords really aren't in the budget right now. what did catch my eye (and my analytical processes) were the leather cloaks at Miles Tonne. they're gorgeous multi-layered, multi-textured pieces of work. they're quite pricey but also do payment plans - I'm seriously thinking of putting in a custom order and paying it off slowly over the year, and picking it up next year in Faire season. we'll see about that. there's other budgetary concerns that come first :)

other than the Faire, we hung out with Candice and her girlfriend Steph, in their really cool apartment near the Beecher Stowe House. it's huge with two bedrooms; the living room has been converted to a studio, with the smaller bedroom as a living room and the larger as the master bedroom. it works out pretty well. plenty of space for two artists and their three cats, who're all cool as well. Bob is big and black and skittish, but took to me a bit Sunday night. Smoochie is dark-haired - didn't see too much of her, she's worse than Bob - and Rudy is Candice's cat. he's also known as Danger Kitty (he has a mypace!) and is friendly to everyone. he begs at the table like a dog and generally follows Candice around the apartment.

somewhere in the next day or two I'll post the trip-happenings from Seattle in August, I promise.

I'm home and safe, and all the stress I didn't have to deal with on the trip has come roaring back. more on that later.

I forgot to mention: I passed the Math GED. I received in the mail, along with that notice, my Secondary School Diploma - I'm all finished! I went to Harrisburg Area CC today and enrolled - so I'm also a HACC student now. I visited Career Services and got some information, and will be taking some aptitude tests that I hope will help me in that department.
